The Ventopedic Ankle & Heel Offloading Boot effectively prevents pressure from 3 critical areas of the foot: the medial and lateral malleolus and the heel. Openings on each side of the boot and the heel allow caregivers to easily monitor these critical areas. This foot positioning boot is made of Ventopedic fabric and has additional layers placed underneath the calf which effectively offload the heel, allowing it to be suspended and protected.
The Ventopedic Ankle & Heel Offloading Boot protects the heel and malleoli of users who are at risk for skin breakdown due to pressure, friction, or shear, and supports the healing of existing heel and malleoli pressure ulcers or skin breakdown. This washable pressure offloading/suspension device for heels is designed to allow for easy visualization of both the heel and the lateral and medial malleolus. The unique fabric allows for continuous air circulation within the boot which helps to keep the lining of the boot and the user’s skin dry and comfortable. The non-slip surface on the sole of the boot allows the boot to be worn for weight-bearing and activities such as standing or transfers from a bed to a chair.
Ventopedic fabric contains controlled levels of hydrophobic and hydrophilic fibers that attract and expel skin moisture four times faster than regular fabric, keeping skin drier, eliminating odors and lessening the chance of skin breakdown. The fabric actually draws moisture away from the skin and allows it to escape. Clinical test results confirm that the Ventopedic fabric will remain dry even under extreme humidity conditions (38ºC/98% humidity).
The Ventopedic Ankle & Heel Offloading Boot is available in 4 sizes. Small size has a boot height of 7 inches, fits calf circumference 8 to 12 inches, and men's and women's shoe sizes up to size 6. Medium size has a boot height of 8 inches, fits calf circumference 13 to 16 inches, and men's and women's shoe sizes 7 to 9. Large size has a boot height of 9 inches, fits calf circumference 17 to 20 inches and men's and women's shoe sizes 10 and larger. Bariatric size fits calf circumference larger than 20 inches.
