The U-Step 2 Walker is a multiple-wheeled mobile walking frame with a U-shaped base, padded seat and innovative braking system. This durable wheeled walker is designed for those with neurological conditions including Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, ALS, MSA, and PSP. The unique frame and extra-wide wheelbase help prevent falls and increase walking independence.

Using the U-Step 2 Walker is not like pushing a standard rolling walker. The U-Step 2 surrounds the user and moves with them. The unique wheelbase and frame are extremely stable and provide support in every direction.

The U-Step 2 will not roll until the user is ready to walk. The innovative braking system is easy to use and allows complete control. The user lightly squeezes either brake release lever to move the walker. Once the lever is released, the unit stops immediately. This feature is particularly helpful when standing up from a chair because the unit will not roll away. The U-Step2 Walker for Parkinson's fits user height range from 5 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, and the handgrips adjust up to 38.5 inches high. Q: coverage by medicare or supplemental insurance?

A: As we do not take insurance directly, you will need to contact your medical insurance provider to be sure. Generally if you have a doctor's recommendation they will reimburse you for the purchase of medical equipment.

Q: Can you tell me whether or not the rollers on the casters of the U-Step 2 Walker can roll on carpet floors, easily, as the unit is pushed?

A: Carpet floors will increase the rolling resistance on the walker, making it more difficult to push. However, the thickness of the carpet and amount of padding underneath should be taken into account. A thinner carpet might not have a significant impact on walker, but thicker carpet can.

A: The U-Step 2 Walker does not ship assembled, although there isn't much assembly required. We do not accept prescriptions or insurance but you may be able to get reimbursed by Medicare.

Q: Do you have to squeeze the hand brakes before it will move? OR does the hand brake just stop the walket?

A: Correct, the walker will not move until the brake lever is pressed. Once the break lever is released the walker will stop.

Q: How much does the U Step 2 weigh? What are the recommendations for people who have had lumbar 4 fusions. I have a Up Walker and it helps me to stand up tall. Now I have Parkinson's also and have fallen several times. Where can I see the U step in the Boston-Worchester (01581) area?

A: The walker weighs 22 pounds with the seat. The U-Step walker with platform attachments will allow you to stand up tall like the Up Walker. The base is more stable and adjustable for users with PD. Contact your local physical therapy clinic to see if they have a demo unit available.
