The
Posey Lateral Positioning Wedges
provide both positioning support and comfort. These lightweight bead-filled positioning wedges are easier to shape and position than regular foam pillows. These positioning wedges are recommended for patients requiring additional positioning support in a bed or chair.
The Posey Lateral Positioning Wedges help caregivers keep bed-ridden patients positioned comfortably by eliminating pressure points over the bony prominences and reducing the incidence of pressure ulcers. Their unique construction of an outer vinyl mesh, breathable fabric shell with a non-absorbent, polystyrene bead fill allows air to flow through the wedge, eliminating the discomfort of heat built which occurs with conventional foam pillows.
Posey Lateral Wedges assist caregivers in complying with National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality guidelines for using a 30-degree lateral inclined position when turning patients to avoid pressure on the hip. Choose from the Large size or X-Large size positioning wedge.
Non returnable if the packaging is opened.

Large Wedge Measures:
19 inches long, 7 inches wide, 9 inches high. For patients over 180 lbs.
X Large Measures:
23 inches long, 7 inches wide, 9 inches high. For very tall patients."

Lightweight, polystyrene filled wedge offers both positioning support and comfort.
Filled with polystyrene beads, this lightweight wedge will not retain heat nor compress like pillows.
Ideal for use with an alternating pressure mattress.
Choose size Large or Extra-large.
Help eliminate pressure to reduce the incidence of bed sores, and the dry surface helps prevent skin breakdown.

I am delighted with the Posey positioning wedges. In fact, I'm going to purchase two more. My husband is almost 6 ft tall, and has Parkinson's. I have used those heavy positioner pillows used in the hospitals and found them to be awkward, bulky and difficult to keep their shape. The Posey wedges are wonderfully light, airy, cool and are outstanding for his needs. Remarkable product!!! By the way, I decided to try them because I have so many Posey gait belts, and I have faith in their products.

The outer covering is not removable, however, the Posey Lateral Positioning Wedges are machine washable in warm temperature. Air dry
preferred.

A:
Depends on where you intend to use the wedge. I am 5'2" and the medium wedge would be the appropriate size for behind the back but the small wedge would be better behind the legs.

Q:
I am 5'3" and only weigh about 100 pounds. I have a muscle disease and I need something like this that would enable me to sleep on my side sometimes instead of always on my back. I am sure that the small size would be perfect for me but do I need to order 1 or 2 of these? Judging from the photo it looks like the patient is using 2 of them, one behind his back and 1 behind his legs. I would appreciate your advice so I can tell my caregiver what I need. Thank you.

Based off your height, I would suggest getting the medium wedge for behind the back (this will span the full length of the back) and the small wedge for behind the legs.
