The NC Medical Molded Sock Aid with Two Handles is an easy to use dressing aid designed for people who have difficulty reaching their feet to put socks or stockings on. Caregivers will find this sock donning tool with foam grip handles allows users to put on socks without having to bend over.

The NC Medical Molded Sock Aid with Two Handles has long cords with 2 soft foam handles that provide a comfortable grip. The cords are attached to a semi-rigid plastic trough that holds a sock or stockings open for the user to slide their foot in. The firm molded design holds its shape, keeping sock open for easier application. A foam disc on the underside of the trough prevents the sock from sliding off before it is completely on the user's foot. Often recommended by Occupational Therapists, this easy to use dressing tool is helpful for people who have limited motion or strength in their hips, legs or back, following a stroke or traumatic brain injury. Sock Aid

I bought this for my Aunt who has early Parkinson. She tells me that she doesn't have the strength to "squeeze" the tube to place the sock over the end of it. It's too difficult for her to use. Just for buyer reference, my Aunt is highly functional - she prepares foods, cleans the house etc. My Uncle tried it and says it does work with some effort.

The device works well with ankle length socks but not well with any higher sock. Also, it is sometimes difficult to keep the device from moving when I put the sock over the front end.

A: No, it is best suited for socks or hosiery. If you need assistance with getting shoes on you may consider trying a shoe horn (several options available; one product #CMI738811) or a Foot Funnel Shoe Assist (Product #: CIP290). Both devices aid in keeping the heel of the shoe open for easier insertion of the foot, most shoe horns have hooks on them to help with picking up or pulling up on the shoes.

Q: How does the sock aid with two handles work with socks above the ankle ?

A: The Norco Sock Aid with Two Handles works the same will all socks/hoisery. The sock is placed on the end of the sock aid (scrunched), place toes in first, then slide heel through, and pull aid up leg to pull the sock/hosiery up. It is not recommended to use with compression stockings.

A: The Norco Molded Sock Aid with Two Handles only comes in 4 inches wide, however there are other sock aids that are wide. The Deluxe Sock Aid (Product # ASN215) is flexible to accommodate larger feet.
