The MED-E-LERT Electronic Medication Reminder and Dispenser is designed especially for people with complicated daily medical regimes. This automated pill dispenser provides caregivers, loved ones, patients and medical staff peace of mind by ensuring that only the prescribed dose of medication is available.

The Med-E-Lert Electronic Medication Reminder and Dispenser is an automatic medication dispenser that features a secured, tamper-proof, locking system with metal key to avoid over-dosing of medications. The 28 medication compartments can be used for medication taken up to 4 times daily. A loud alarm tone and a blinking red LED light alert the caregiver or patient when medication needs to be taken. The alarms are not dismissed until the pill dispenser is tilted on its side to dispense the pills. Six scheduling discs are included that can be inserted to indicate the day of the week and the time of day depending on the number of doses needed daily. Despite its compact size, the Med-E-Lert also features large pill compartments that hold up to 18 aspirin sized pills. Three programming buttons make this medication management system easy to program and use.

Works for Mom
We in our family were all skeptical whether it would work as a reminder for MOm or not. She has dimentia and woudl forget to take pills. For AM PM only we get to set this up under lock and key for 14 days. The alarms reminder her to take her meds on time. She can easily lift the container and empty the pills into her hand which shuts off the alarm. It took some work to get this set up and set the timers etc . We hope the batteries hold up for a while or give us advanced warning so we can refill the batteries. For now its a perfect solution.

Mr.
The 1st one I received had an error right away when testing, but I tried to use it anyway. Over the next 2 weeks it had 2 more errors. When it has an error the motor fails to advance and the pills cannot be released, and it won't operate until you remove the batteries to reset it. I sent an email about the problem to Caregiverproducts.com and someone there contacted the manufacturer. A few days later I received a new one and didn't have to send the old one back! So this was very good response. The new one has not failed in the little over 2 weeks I've had it. There are some product improvements I would recommend but the service was great. It would be good if there was a reset button so if it does fail it can try again or continue without having to remove the batteries. Or possibly there could be a simpler non-motorized version which has a lever arm that can only be advanced when its time to dispense.
