The Independence Cups and Mugs are translucent to allow the caregiver to monitor the flow of liquid. Choose from the tumbler, single handle or double handle design that will best meet the needs of the user. Each cup includes two lids - one with a spout and one anti-splash.

The Independence Cups and Mugs are adapted cups and mugs and lids designed for individuals who have difficulty using standard drinking cups. Each cup has 2 lids, a spout lid and an anti-splash lid. The contoured spout lid fits comfortably in the mouth, and the recessed anti-splash lid directs flow of liquid to the mouth. Both lids can be used with a straw. The Independence Cups and Mugs are made of translucent, durable polypropylene and are latex and BPA free. The cups and mugs hold both hot and cold liquids, are dishwasher safe up to 228°F and microwave safe. Independence Replacement Lids, Independence Nosey Lid, and Independence Vacuum Lids also available.

Great Help for Stroke Victim

These cups were recommended by the dietician at my aunt's nursing home. She had a stroke four years ago, and has some physical limitations as a result. The design of the cups has restored her independence in being able to drink beverages without assistance. The two-handled design, combined with the spout lid, allows her to be able to handle the cups herself. I could deduct a star because the cups aren't as durable as advertised -- we've had to replace them annually because they are subject to cracking due to the heat of a commercial dishwasher; however, these are so inexpensive and have made such a significant difference in her quality of life that I will give the cups the full five stars. (But if you can hand wash them, do ... they will last longer.)

Single and double handled drinking cup with spouted lid

My mother is 89 and has Parkinsons. These cups have made it easier for her to drink fluids and there is minimal spillage as compared to ordinary cups. The one change I would recommend to MFG., make the handles longer so three fingers can be used to grip cup handle. That would make it easier for the user.

Works Very Well

My wife is in a hospital bed. The tumblers work very well...especially since I can see the liquid.

A: Although thickened liquids will require a greater sucking force, yes, thickened liquids can still be used with these cups.

Q: Does the lid only have a sip opening or is there the option to use a straw? Ideally we are looking for a 2 handle cup with a wide flat base (preferably wider at the bottom or a "winged" base & the ability to use a straw

A: The Independence cups/mugs come with two lids. You can use the anti-splash lid with a straw. You will probably want to look at CPS105 if you require a larger base; it has two handles and a larger base.

Q: Need a sippy cup for an adult that does NOT require sucking, liquid just flows gently from sippy mechanism. Would you recommend your selection, please?

A: The Independence Cups and Mugs you are looking at are free flow, not 'sippy'.
