In 2001, CarePlus Medical, Inc. developed the TurnWedge Ultimate Body Positioner, which become known as the standard in positioning-based, pressure ulcer prevention and treatment. Careplus Medical, Inc. identified the need to develop a product that is both low-cost and highly effective. This newly patented multipurpose positioning device is called the Turnwedge. It aids in relieving pressure from the skin and assists in the effective treatment and prevention of pulmonary complications associated with immobility. The design team took feedback from nurses and wound care specialists and created the patented design. The Turnwedge has been designed to resolve the many issues that arise from caring for the immobile patient.
